Not all coral nutrition comes from light

Photosynthetic corals get a lot of their energy from zooxanthellae, but non-photosynthetic (NPS) corals get none of it — they rely entirely on what you feed them. Pure Phyto fills that gap with real phytoplankton, the base of the marine food chain, rather than a synthetic substitute.

It's designed to combine easily with the rest of the Step 5 lineup — mix Pure Phyto with Bio-Enhance and Coral Cane for a single complete feeding, or dose it on its own as a standalone broadcast feed.

Broadcast feeding

Before feeding, turn off skimmer and return pumps; let corals consume it for 30 minutes, then restore normal flow.

Target feeding

Mix 3mL Pure Phyto with 1mL Bio-Enhance and 4mL tank water, then feed gently with a pipette or baster.

Combine with Coral Cane

Add at a ratio of 1mL Pure Phyto plus 1mL Bio-Enhance per scoop of Coral Cane for a complete combined feeding.

Questions about this product

Do I need this if I already dose Bio-Enhance?+

They cover different things — Bio-Enhance is a liquid nutrient blend, while Pure Phyto is whole phytoplankton. Many reefers run both, and NPS corals in particular benefit from real phytoplankton specifically.

Do I need to turn off my skimmer to feed this?+

For broadcast feeding, yes — turn off the skimmer and return pumps for about 30 minutes so corals have time to consume it before it's filtered out.

Does this need refrigeration like other phytoplankton products?+

No — unlike many phytoplankton supplements, Pure Phyto doesn't require cold storage.
